The referred recent post from Ministry of Education of India cites the news report of TOI elaborating that an Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) team of researchers have developed a mobile application that shall gauge and measure the "bumpiness index" of a particular road (in parts of Mumbai for the moment).
It shall alert the App users about the probability of the expected bumpiness and the severity of the dis-maintenance or potholedness, by way of which the user may choose to opt a different path & road network.
One may ponder as what then makes this IIT-Bombay App different from what the already in use Navigation Maps/Apps/Tools of Google, Apple, Here, etc. are offering?!!
Not much, actually. But, this IIT-B App endeavours to provide that extra-mile end-user utility information layered over the existing navigational tools that are already there in the e-markets.
This App under development envisages to utilise the cloud-sourced and cloud-shared road-specific information on designated road stretches, and put it to use after detailed prognosis and algorithm-driven user interface.
Team #bricksNmortar shall try to establish a contact with the developers & researchers of this new application, and would try to bring more information on board.
